Asian Flavored Pork Tenderloin

We have roasted pork tenderloin in modified BBQ sauce for ages.  Everyone loves it.  But it’s also nice to find new ways to cook a favorite cut.  Here’s one that worked for us.

  • 1 ½ cups mirin (rice wine)
  • 1 ½ cups soy sauce
  • 6” ginger stem, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp. red pepper flakes
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced (peel included)
  • 2 tbsp. sesame oil
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 2 pork tenderloins
  • 1 tbsp. canola oil

Combine all ingredients but pork.  Marinate pork in the mixture overnight.  Preheat oven to 350F.  Drain the pork and pat dry.  Sauté in oil until brown on all sides.  Roast in oven for 30 minutes or until meat thermometer reads 135F.  Cover in oil and let rest 15 minutes.  Slice and enjoy.

If you’d like to have a sauce with the pork, prepare another marinade with only 2 cups water and cook on stovetop.  Thicken with 1 tbsp. cornstarch.  Serve alongside the pork.
