Cinnamon Sticky Buns

Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • 2 pkg dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup + 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 cup milk. scalded and cooled to 110F
  • 1/3 cup Wesson oil
  • 2 eggs
  • Filling:
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp. cinnamon
  • For sticky buns:
  • 2 tbsp. melted butter
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. corn syrup
  • Icing:
  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 2 tbsp. warm milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Dough:
  2. Dissolve the yeast in water with 1 tsp sugar. Let sit for 5 minutes. In mixer combine 3 cups flour, 1/3 cup sugar and a dash salt. At low speed gradually add in milk, oil, eggs and yeast until well blended. Beat in another 1 1/2 cup flour. Knead on floured board surface 10 minutes. Place in oiled bowl (roll the dough in the oil to ensure it doesn't stick). Cover and let rise in cold oven until doubled (1 hour).
  3. Grease 3 round cake pans. Roll dough on lightly floured surface to 18x10 rectangle. Spread with the filling (you just mix all the ingredients until smooth). Roll TIGHTLY from the long side. Cut into 18 1" slices. Place 6 rolls in each pan. Cover and let rise 1 hour.
  4. IF YOU'RE MAKING STICKY BUNS put the filling first in the pan (i.e. under the bun) and then put in the bun dough.
  5. Bake at 350F 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Invest after 1 minute if you're making sticky buns, 10 minutes if cinnamon buns. Ice when slightly cooled.
