Pears in Suzette Sauce

 

Ingredients

  • Pears:
  • 4 Bosc pears, peeled, cored and halved
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Sauce:
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 8 oz Grand Marnier
  • 1 gallon vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Pears:
  2. Bring water and sugar to boil with vanilla. Boil 15 minutes, uncovered. Add pears and poach 15 or so minutes until almost cooked - not too soft. Drain pears.
  3. Sauce:
  4. Caramelize sugar and water until nice and brown. Add juices. mixture will sputter. Cook until well combined. toss in butter and Grand Marnier. Add pears and cook 5 minutes.
  5. Pour over vanilla ice cream. It's so tasty!
